One week into the school Summer Holidays and we hope you enjoyed some of our “Great Outdoors” suggestions for keeping the kids entertained while you are busy.  This week, we would like to introduce you to some of the museums in Yorkshire which allow you to get “hands on” with history, science and sculpture.  Again, children are not obligatory in order to enjoy the majority of the activities or locations mentioned, they are just as much fun with other family and friends and most of them are open all year round. With the start of the school summer holidays, parents everywhere wait in anticipation of the inevitable “I’m bored!” from their youngster.  This year, however, we hope to be able to prepare you for that scenario with a selection of blogs that discuss exciting and challenging things to do in Yorkshire, in the summer holiday period, or to avoid boredom anytime throughout the year!  Please note that children are not obligatory in order to enjoy the majority of the activities or locations mentioned, they are just as much fun with other family and friends.

Since posting the below, we’re sorry to hear that the torrential rains in the area has meant the cancellation of the Great Yorkshire Show.  Our thoughts are with all of the organisers, exhibitors and visitors who are obviously disappointed with this outcome.

Mid-July, Yorkshire Agricultural Society in Harrogate plays host to the Great Yorkshire Show, one of the highlights of the year for the region.  This year, runs from Tuesday 10 to Thursday 12 of July and features a range of countryside crafts, living and livestock (weather permitting). (more…)
