A million thanks guys to all the fabulous contributors who are working with Quest to share their potent social media case studies and ‘learns’ with us.

In line with our passion to develop a ‘best practice’ blog from which we can share and benefit from our collective experiences, our latest guest post is from Amanda Selvaratnam, Head of Continuing Professional Development, University of York and Director of The Training Gateway at The Innovation Centre based at York Science Park.

I have very recently started to use social media for marketing both the work of the Training Gateway and also the university’s training courses.

I’ve been amazed at how effective it is for communicating new training opportunities and winning new clients.

The University of York is currently offering 60% of all our training courses to businesses in Yorkshire and Humber. We promoted these via my profile on LinkedIn and also my colleagues’ profiles and through discussions on various Yorkshire and Humber LinkedIn groups. This resulted in a number of new clients approaching the University for training.   This has effectively been a cost free form of marketing. (more…)
